Riding for Juice

A chat with Tom’s Juice founder, Tom Wright.

Tom’s Juice isn’t just about cold-pressed greens, it’s about warmth, presence, and human connection. Founder Tom, raised in New Zealand, brought his creative background in design and fashion to NYC, where he reimagined wellness as something simple, beautiful, and human. The result is a neighborhood hideaway where nourishment meets intention, and every sip tells a story.

Hey Tom! What’s a guy like you doing in a city like NYC? New York is full of surprises—are you one of them?

I'm just another person enjoying the ride here in New York, living it and loving it!

What’s the juice behind the juice?

It's what gets me up each day. It's an extension of my entrepreneurial spirit, it's New York—it's a constant reminder of where I come from, the wins and the losses. I'm motivated to create a great product and brand that can open up conversations with other great brands and products I admire and look up to. And if I can motivate and inspire others along the way, that’s awesome!

Beyond the juice…What else is brewing?

Just enjoying life as much as possible. Time with family and friends is the main brew.

Your ultimate fruit crush?

Passion fruit.

Tom: before, during, and after the juice.

Before: Heavy in the clothing industry, lots of sports, New Zealand.

During: Survival, hustle, and enjoying everything that comes my way—the fun stuff and the hard stuff.

After: Time will tell. There might not be an "after"; this could be forever.

How many miles do you rack up on your bike every day?

When Tom’s Juice was my survival during COVID, I was biking around 20–40 miles a day, pulling a trailer with the juice in it. Now, with other business commitments, I unfortunately can't bike around all day.

Favorite food?

Mediterranean cuisine is my favorite. Fresh fruits and veggies—yum. I love seafood and pasta, plus New Zealand's bakery options are one of a kind.

If you could pick anyone in the world to taste your juice, who would it be? A celebrity? A president? Your childhood hero?

50 Cent.

What’s the next city that needs a taste of Tom’s Juice?

Hard to say—I have a lot of cities in mind that I think would be cool for Tom’s Juice. But at the same time, I like it being available only in New York.

Your glass bottles scream “no waste, just taste!” How important is sustainability in your business?

It's a no-brainer, really. It makes the product taste and look better than plastic bottles, and it eliminates the single-use option, which I think is far too common worldwide. A plastic bottle was never an option. Plus, we compost all our food scraps, which eventually go back into the gardens and farms around New York City and State.

Organic food is amazing but not always affordable. What’s your take on that?

It's a tough one, especially in the States. I think the word "organic" is used pretty loosely these days. I believe in keeping it simple and using common sense. A good apple is a good apple, whether it's organic or not.

Should healthy food be a luxury or a right?

I think it's a luxury that is already easily accessible in most parts of the world. Where it's not, it most definitely should be both a luxury and a right. There’s too much food waste happening worldwide for people to go hungry.
