METAL STANDERT

It’s about the outstanding ones.

Not the polished, predictable, already-defined version of cycling, but the things that sit slightly outside its established lines. With METAL STANDERT, Mental Athletic and Standert take the Pfadfinder somewhere else: a special colorway built around deep blue fading into raw metal, sharp yellow logos, Campagnolo custom wheels and a Fizik custom saddle.

At its core, the Pfadfinder is a steel endurance bike made to go the distance. Columbus steel tubing, bespoke 3D-printed stainless steel dropouts and clearance for tyres up to 38mm give it the range to move between surfaces without compromising its character. Agile, durable and comfortable, it is designed for long rides, rough roads and whatever exists beyond the mapped route.

The name says it all. In German, Pfadfinder carries the idea of finding your way — a fitting name for a bike that leaves plenty of room for detours, discovery and whatever the road throws at you.

That idea sits at the centre of the collaboration. Unlabeling cycling from the inside means questioning the codes that have come to define the sport, rather than simply rejecting them from the outside. It is the same impulse that drives Mental Athletic: looking at sport as a cultural space, dismantling its conventions and making room for different ways of moving through it.

Nothing outstanding comes from staying within the lines.
