EVERYTHING THAT IS ESSENTIAL, AND NOTHING THAT IS NOT.

The past week we experienced a real celebration of movement, sport, design, heritage, nature and community.

Adidas Originals organized a mindblowing collective retreat in the middle of the desert in New Mexico, where they built the Monument of Sport.

Built inside a mine by Playlab, the gypsum track embodies a timeless circularity, reflecting the infinite loop where beginning and end merge seamlessly. This sense of continuity evokes the enduring quality of monuments, yet here it contrasts with the installation's vulnerability—exposed to the natural elements that become active contributors to its evolution.

The wind, sun, and other natural forces play a dynamic role, transforming the installation over time. As the work shifts from a designed object to an uncontrollable entity, it mirrors the instinctive flow of athletic performance—a mental elevation where the body moves instinctively, and the act transcends into pure abstraction.

Emerging as if from the earth itself, the installation symbolizes the runner’s intrinsic drive to cultivate their passion. Like the track beneath their feet, the form arises naturally, offering the space to nurture what lies within and bring it to life.

Once again Adidas declares that its vision goes beyond the limit of pure movement, with another remarkable creative initiative enhancing what's old but new. Adidas never disappoints when it comes to cultural happenings, and reminds us to always embrace everything that is essential, and nothing that is not.
